Advances continue to be made by plant pathologists on topics in plant health, environmental protection and food security. Many advances have been made for individual crops, pathogens and diseases that in many cases have led to their successful management
Applications of advanced techniques in epidemiological analysis based on spatial data, dynamic models and climatic variables have proved successful, as shown in an example for invasive populations of Austropuccinia psidii (see section 5.2, which was funded in part by Ngā Rākau Taketake's research theme Host, Pathogen and Environment).
