The fungus that causes myrtle rust, Austropuccinia psidii, arrived in New Zealand in 2017. To date, it has been recorded infecting many ecologically, culturally, and economically important species in the Myrtaceae family, including pōhutukawa and mānuka. Māori have been important collaborators in the myrtle rust space since before the disease arrived in New Zealand. In this webinar, we’ll hear about the connections, research, knowledge, and capacity that have been built over the last six years.
